Bookstore Buyback Policy
It is the policy of our bookstore to buy back every book we possibly can, offering you as much as we possible can. We hope the following information willl help explain how the buyback process works.
- Books that have been ordered by the professors for the next term and are needed by the bookstore, will be purchased for 50% of the price you paid for it. If it was a new book you will be offered 50% of the new price. If it was purchased used you will be offered 50% of the used price during our end of term buyback.
- We would advise you to sell your books as soon as you are finished with them during the end of term buyback.
- The quantity of books needed for any given class varies from term to term. The bookstore will only buyback at 1/2 price the quantity needed for the upcoming term. When that need is filled, the wholesale value will be offered, if one exists. The wholesale value is determined by the used book wholesale companies, based on the national demand for that book. Some books do not have a resale value and will not be purchased.
- Books that have been replaced by a new edition cannot be purchased.
- Damaged books, international editions, or books in poor condition will not be bought. This includes missing pages or loose pages, broken binding, water damage, or excessive writing.
- Professors, not the bookstore, determine which books are used for classes. Professors are responsible for notifying the bookstore of their book selection in a timley fashion. The bookstore can only work with the information we have at the time of buyback.
